  • Sports Day

    Published 30/06/23

With clear skies and hardly any rain, Sports day saw over 450 children participate in activities ranging from the 50m sprint to the Egg and Spoon Race. During half time we were treated to a cheerleading performance by our charismatic cheerleaders, who spent only a term practising their routine. After the half time show, the children participated in year group races with finalists being crowned with medals. A highlight for most of the children were the parents, guardians and carers races! It was a joy to see so many step up and participate. Well done to all the children who participated in Sports Day. Moreover, thank you to all the parents, guardians and carers who came to support in full force. We look forward to hosting you next year

  • Empathy Day

    Published 23/06/23

At Hewens Primary School, we believe that Empathy isn’t just important, it’s everything. Rather than celebrate Empathy Day on the 8th June, we celebrated it throughout the week! The week started with the children attending an assembly, where they learned more about empathy by developing their empathy skills before putting them into action. Other activities throughout the week included children creating their very own empathy superpower glasses, which they used whilst having their empathy power book read aloud. A highlight for most of the children was the empathy exchange discussions as they enabled the children to walk in someone else’s shoes. Well done to all the children who participated in all the activities throughout the week.

  • Notice from the School Nurse team and NHS about the services available.

    Published 14/06/23

    Dear parents / guardians,

Health issues related to the current warm weather are causing our A&Es to be busier than usual, with waits of up to 11 hours in A&Es at the moment. A&E is for life threatening emergencies.  There are lots of NHS services that can help you. Knowing where to go, and when, will help you get the right care when you need it.

Your local high street pharmacy can provide advice and over the counter medication to help with hayfever.  You can also contact your GP surgery or call 111 when your GP is closed.

In this warm weather, when we also have a very high pollen count at the moment, make sure you follow our top tips to prevent yourself becoming unwell.
